Brendan Murphy’s Boonji Spaceman Lands in Perth
Brendan Murphy’s monumental Boonji Spaceman has just touched down in Perth, Australia—adding a bold new chapter to the global journey of one of today’s most iconic contemporary sculptures.
Standing 7 meters tall and fully mirrored in chrome, this reflective giant now rises in Stirling Gardens, right in the heart of the city. Surrounded by lush greenery and historic architecture, the Spaceman creates a powerful visual and emotional contrast—drawing crowds, sparking headlines, and stirring meaningful conversations.
This isn’t just a sculpture; it’s a symbol. Through the Boonji Spaceman, Brendan Murphy explores the infinite potential of human creativity and the boundless curiosity that drives us forward. Its chrome surface mirrors the viewer and environment alike—reminding us that we are part of something larger, yet still deeply personal.
This installation marks the latest stop in the Spaceman’s international journey. Previous editions have landed in Antigua, Oslo, and Washington D.C., where a towering 22-foot version was previously on view at the Kennedy Center. Each city adds its own cultural imprint, making Perth the newest—and southernmost—link in an evolving global story.
The Perth installation is part of a wider civic initiative to energize the city’s public spaces through impactful contemporary art. And while the Spaceman has stirred debate, that’s precisely what Brendan’s work is designed to do—ignite dialogue, challenge assumptions, and inspire wonder.
At Chic Evolution in Art, we are proud to represent Brendan Murphy and support the ongoing evolution of the Boonji Spaceman series. From private collections to monumental public placements, we work closely with collectors worldwide to share Brendan’s vision on every scale.
Perth’s Spaceman is not just a sculpture—it’s a cultural moment.
